This is a really cool club spot open in the day. Perfect balance of a good night out. Whether you're smart casual or all out dressed up all are welcome. They have ping pong tables and beer pong. I DJ here sometimes and is the main place I go out to.

When I was growing up I loved the arcades here. You can do shopping here as an alternative to Town/Arndale centre. If you got kids or are a kid take them to the arcade in the food court.

Go for a chicken split - it wont taste the same anywhere else you go I guarantee!

Pyra’s Guide to Bangkok

It's Bangkok's most legendary shopping mall and entertainment centre. I often come here to get inspired by the diverse vibe, ranging from a cyberpunk-themed maid cafe to Teen Pop Idol gigs. You can easily spot many young cross-players and teenagers dressed in Lolita or goth fashion. Don't forget to try the excellent food court there. MBK reminds me a lot of the fresh future of Bangkok youth.

A record store where I often bump into local DJs and have conversations about music and the scene. There are always new local DJs and international ones spinning there, playing indie music and underground tracks. You can find anything from old Thai country vinyl to contemporary pop records, along with some really tasty cocktails. The bar is also owned by a singer and songwriter from my favourite all-female band: Yellow Fang.

This is Bangkok's Akihabara, the Otaku sanctuary. It's the hub of Japanese anime figures, toys and video games, where you can easily lose track of time in a paradise of eye-popping displays with fully stocked shelves of cute toys. Additionally, if you're looking for vintage cameras, this is the ideal spot to find one.

This is an iconic bar that embraces alternative and is LGBTQIA+ friendly. Here, you'll find drag queens performing lip-syncs to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' alongside Britney Spears B-side tracks. They also host karaoke nights where you can sing anything from Radiohead to Taylor Swift amid the bustling tourist street of Khao San. You'll experience a complete contrast in the vibe of this bar, almost like falling down the rabbit hole of Alice in Wonderland.

Recently, Photoautomat has become trendy among Bangkok teenagers. There are numerous photo booths across town. Among them, the one located in the midst of Siam Square (the shopping street) is the most well-known. It features various photo booths with different themes and styles, most of which look fashionable and Instagram-worthy. You'll encounter stylish Bangkok youth dressed up in Y2K fashion, patiently waiting in line to use all the photo booths there.

I swear, this is the cutest store in town filled with stickers, postcards, gliptok, posters, fan art, K-Pop keychains, Y2K fashion clothing from local artists and brands – and also sticker machines. Located in the heart of Siam Square, this store brings back the early 2000s vibe of the area where people simply enjoyed their fashion and were ready to be photographed by random photographers. You can come and get some spectacular souvenirs that will impress your friends back home.

This is the spot for hip-hop enthusiasts, where you can come to listen to new sounds from underground DJs and collectives from various cities. Blaq Lyte used to be a small bar where everyone knew each other, and it's where I met many renowned Thai rappers. Now, it has grown even larger and gained more recognition in the scene, but it still maintains the same vibe.

The Rock Pub is a classic venue that has been open for more than 20 years. It's known as Bangkok's house of punk, metal, alternative and all things rock 'n' roll with a dive bar style. Yes, it's Bangkok's CBGB, where you can hear live bands playing classic numbers like Green Day, Blink 182, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and many more.

As you may already know, Thailand is the land of superstition, and this occult statue in Bangkok has become its urban legend. The statue features a gargoyle-like figure with long red nails that creeps many people out. It has even been featured on national news, challenging traditional Buddhist beliefs. There is still no confirmation about whether this statue is associated with white or black magic. Therefore, my suggestion is to avoid making any deals if you don't want to get in any trouble.

Prepare yourself for the 500 Shades of Bangkok. If you have a kinky side, this one's for you. It's an LGBTQIA+ friendly cafe with a fetish and BDSM theme, owned by ForFun: a fetish wear store and a BDSM community next to it. The coffee and cocktail menu features names like Master & Slave, Bondage and Pet Play. The ambience is adorned with leather and chains, and the red light shines brightly. If you're seeking a unique afternoon tea experience with the scent of leather and a hint of pain, this is the perfect spot for you.

This is always the first Persian food place I stop at when in LA, Attari Sandwich shop! It reminds me of Iran, so it’s very special to me since I don't often get to experience that. To start off, you have to try the mouth watering Eggplant dish (Kashke bademjan) then any of their delicious sandwiches - my two favorites are Sausage and Tongue. They have an amazing menu filled with yummy Persian food that you can enjoy in the cute outdoor area. Persian cream puffs (Noon Khamei) is a MUST for dessert.

The name says it all! When you go to Saffron and Rose Ice Cream shop in Westwood you must try the ice cream that the shop is named after, the Saffron ice cream. Mixed with pistachios, I don’t know anyone who could dislike this signature Iranian Ice Cream flavor, it’s a must try.. 

Feeling a little fancy? Then Darya restaurant is the place to go to have an amazing dinner. My favorite dish is Zereshk Polo Morgh (Persian Barberry rice with chicken) OR ANY of the dishes. If you’re new to Persian food then get a few different dishes and share. Some nights there is live music to enjoy while dining at Darya Restaurant.

Iran has such a rich culture and a long history in arts, music and traditions. Stores like Ketabsara (ketab = Book) are much needed to keep the Persian culture alive. I can never get enough of walking in a store that carries that much depth in the art and history.

This is definitely the spot to go for a casual hang out with your friends where you can enjoy Shisha food and board games. Open until 3am most nights and until 5am on weekends this is the perfect place to end up after going out for dinner to the movies etc. I think of this place as somewhere nice and chill and if I lived in LA I imagine i’d become a regular here. Shisha (Ghelyoun) is a big part of Persian culture. In Iran, my family always would have the Ghelyoun going after lunch or dinner over a cup of tea and snacks. It’s not about smoking, it's more the fact it brings everyone together.

I went to Cafe Glace with my cousin and my friends for the first time in 2019 when we were in LA to shoot music videos. Everyone is so lovely here and the food is amazing. I’ve had their gourmet Pizzas and sandwiches. Don’t forget to order some Chai (tea) after your meal. In Persian culture, we drink tea a lot. First thing in the morning, before and after meals tea is something that is always being made and poured into your glass. We also believe that tea is great for the stomach after meals to help with digestion.

I love visiting my family when I'm in LA and my uncle has had so much success at his store in downtown where many celebrities go to get their hair  products from.

In LA, there’s really no Caribbean culture. So, the Jerk Spot is one of those places that I go to and it makes me forget that I’m in LA kind of thing. The food’s incredible, the area is like this little small, almost hole-in-the-wall type spot. I’m a big foodie.

In my free time, I’ve been taking photos. I’m like a fake photographer, for me it’s significant because it’s when you create memories and don’t take photos of them, you almost forget about them. So, when I go to that photo lab to develop my photos and I receive them, it almost feels like me reliving these memories.

The taco truck experience feels cultural, it feels like a good place to coagulate, sit on the block. Get some tacos, vibe out. It’s very communal, in like the most street-possible way. LA culture is completely different and i feel like that taco truck adds like a little bit more street-ness to Los Angeles. You gotta do the Carnita tacos with the green sauce.

For me, it’s all about trying to find different flavours in this city because like I said, LA is so spread out that sometimes it’s kinda hard to find pockets of things. But this spot has a very strong Parisian feel. It’s kind of like a little Paris hangout, it feels like you’re in the middle of Paris even though you’re in the middle of LA. And you know the drinks are amazing and the thought process behind that experience, again, like I said, I’m a foodie, so it’s kind of just where I hang out. The crowd there is more creative.

The thing about this spot is that it gives me a clash of culture and creativity. Because everyone that’s selling stuff there or goes there is usually from a lack of funds, it’s not a lot of wealthy people or people that are affluent that really go there. You just get to see what everybody’s taste is and how everyone’s trying to relate what they’re putting forward. It gives me a sense of a melting pot.

Rockets never disappoints when looking for a great night-out. The crowd is amazing and the drinks keep flowing. Everybody is there to just have a good time

I am big on gaming and motorsports. This spot offers some of the greatest motoring events at international standards.

A man needs to eat every now and then. This spot is a great place to catch up with friends while having some good food.

Shopping is one of my favourite things. This shopping centre is cosy and offers so easy different restaurants and retail stores. It's also easy to get around.

Nicely secluded boutique hotel. It has a relaxing and chilled ambience when in need of luxury treatment and relaxation.

Johannesburg is the concrete jungle where we hustle and chase our dreams. This area is where you get first-hand experience of authentic cultural expression of all those chasing their dreams and making things happen. The people here are very friendly and genuine.

This is an urban part of the city that is full of creative energy. The block is the arts and culture hub of Johannesburg.

Where I get my coffee everyday, the staff is the best and coffee too. This is located in Centro (downtown).

An independent synth shop. The owner is a good guy, and this is one of the few spots where you can find specialised electronic music instruments and modular synths in the city, located in Colonia Condesa.

In Centro downtown. It's also the mecca of Japanese mangas in the city. A lot of kids go to play and exchange, it's pretty fun and not the usual tourist activity.

An itinerant rave. They use warehouses and abandoned buildings to create a utopic, inclusive rave-slash-party experiences. Affordable for the locals and with the best international and local talent.

Located in Colonia Juárez. An independent fashion store with a futuristic, minimal and cyberpunk approach.

5 Independent Spots You Should Support in Mexico City

Palm Bay Skates is on Northdown Road, and it's the place [where] I get all my caps from now. Run by Matt and Sarah, they make all their garments onsite, or use UK-based factories for items they don't make themselves. They also have an embroidering machine onsite which is always in use, making quality patches. Their lines are constantly expanding but there's always a few essentials in store. Go check them out for baseball caps, jerseys. hoodies, t-shirts and beanies.

There are a few really good art galleries and spaces here in Margate: Carl Freeman, Quench Gallery, Crate and Penthouse Margate – to name a few. But I'm picking out Well Projects as my tip. It's about three quarters of the way up Northdown Road in Cliftonville and it's an artist-led gallery. [It] always has very interesting, curated exhibitions from emerging artists, which can range from video and sound installations, performances and talks to sculpture, ceramics, paintings and print-based work.

Situated at the foot of the high street, in a small shopping area called The Centre. Elsewhere is a brilliant live music venue, record shop and bar. It's been a champion of both independent and local bands since it opened, but has also become a choice venue for a lot of better known acts too. I have to give a shout out to Sammy (Arts Cool), who is responsible for a lot of what I love about Elsewhere. We must support local independent venues.

Dalby's is a bit of a Margate institute. Simply put, it serves up a banging fry up. Perfect for a Sunday morning breakfast after a big night out.

If fry ups aren't your thing, go check Forts out. The coffee is so good, everything on the food menu is also banging. You basically can't go wrong with any choice.

Sargasso is a great restaurant out on the harbour arm, opposite the old town. It is run by the team behind Brawn in London. They have a lot of locally-sourced produce, the wine list is on point and they're now doing the most gorgeous soft serve. Be sure to book in advance as it's a popular one due to its beautifully executed and delicious menu, and buzzing atmosphere.

My favourite place to get a drink has got to be Rose in June, run by legendary landlord and all-round top guy Deke. Before I moved to Margate, Deke used to run my favourite London pub, Three Kings, in Clerkenwell. Rose in June is a little off the beaten track, which I like; it's cosy, authentic and [has a] well-curated interior with a nice, old-school vibe. They also serve some great grub. It's worth checking Deke's new spot, Off Licence, which is a smaller bar opposite the Lido tower.

If you've got time, you've got to check out the Shell Grotto. If you haven't got time, make time. It's not something you'll experience very often. It's a subterranean grotto that was discovered in 1835 and is covered with 4.6 million shells. Little is known about the Shell Grotto's reason for being, but one thing is for sure – it's quite amazing. Whilst you're at it, also go visit the Margate Caves which is nearby.

Run by two local legends, Rae and Cynthia, Werkhaus is an expertly curated shop of modern utilitarian womenswear and vintage garments on High St. The shop used to be an old launderette. The High St has seen an influx of independent shops popping up in recent years. Whilst visiting Werkhaus, it's also worth popping into Margate Gift Store, Kill Me Now and L'Absurde.

I love to go to museums, especially by myself. Perez is one of my favourite museums to go to as they centre a lot of modern and contemporary art of the 20th/21st century. They have one of the best exhibitions and events in my opinion. I get a lot of inspiration here. The location is just perfect to go and then have a walk or picnic around it after with an ocean view.

If you know me you know I love my fritanga. Located in Little Havana, it’s one of my favourite places to get carne asada, queso frito, and gallo pinto con maduro. Overall best food and it’s open 24 hours. If anyone’s got you for a midnight meal after a party it’s Pinolandia.

Another amazing spot to go eat at for some good soul food with an amazing ambience. One of the best Haitian/Caribbean spots in Miami located in Little Haiti has all your favourites, from vegan to meats and seafood. Come here for the best curry goat and jerk chicken to feed the heart with juicy love.

The best queer underground party dedicated to the Black Caribbean diaspora, created by a brother of mine Akia aka Pressure Point. They now have a radio station y’all should go check out if you wanna be at the forefront of what the freshest sounds of the Miami underground is listening to! NB: This collective does not have a specific location.

Recently opened in Miami Design district, Dion Lee has one of my favourite pieces in Miami to wear. I used to work in the store and it just has such a good energy overall, its design is incredible with a beautiful sculpture designed by Oliver Laric. It’s located in Design district which you can also walk around after you purchase some goodies from Dion Lee.

The legendary Domicile is known for its techno parties that a lot of my friends go to since there really aren’t that many spaces that play GOOD techno. If you need a good night out and want to listen to some good techno, Domicile is the place for you.

This is such a cute spot if you love wine and a good ambience. They serve all your favourite spirits which you can order with a charcuterie board and hear some nice live jazz. They have a big outside area in the back filled with flora you feel like you're in a little forest.

Now you KNOW I love a good perreo, and no one is doing it like this party here. Perreo del futuro is a Latino party done where we all get down and sweaty throwing ass to reggaeton. Mi gente Latino will love this party if you ever get the chance to come down to Miami while this is happening. NB: This collective does not have a specific location.

One of my favourite places to walk around even if it's just to window shop. Mainly because it’s not a typical mall because it’s an outdoor mall, beautifully designed by Architectonica. It’s one of the largest construction projects in the US during its creation. It’s actually the most beautiful mall I’ve ever been to. It’s a must.

This is a very very well known bar here in Miami. It is the perfect gastropub to meet up with friends and have some nice signature cocktails or just a couple of beers. It has such a unique vibe with nice live music and it’s open till very late so you can always trust on it.

A treasure and historic landmark built on 1916, Vizcaya museum and Gardens by James Deering is a must see. Formerly his home, it has one of the best botanical gardens you’ll ever witness down here. This a great day time walking activity since it is also located near the water. 

Another incredible Queer underground rave party you’ll ever set foot in Miami. It’s the first party I ever had gone to when I first moved to Miami and made me fall in love with raving haha. Thrown by my sista Gami @ultrathem, it’s just THE party to go to when you’re in Miami. If you didn’t know about them, well now you do! NB: This collective does not have a specific location.

This is a spot you go to at 3/4AM. It's a place you would have never imagined in Singapore. Nickname is 'four floors of whores," however, it's not as seedy as it sounds. Bands play your dad's favourite songs all night long and you bump into all sorts of people from families, travellers or visiting DJs. It's weird and wonderful all mixed into one.

Noodle shop by day - Japanese restaurant by night.

Get laksa, char kway teow, oyster omelette, chicken wings and black carrot cake.

This is weird and wonderful at the same time. Singapore Centre is split into 3 areas: Little India, Arab Ttreet and China Town. Each area has its on level of uniqueness to it.

Mustafa's is a shopping complex that is open 24 hrs and has everything that you need. I mean everything. Socks are placed next to lamps. Steaks next to watches. It's just an amazing experience. Go have a look for 15 mins and then eat the food that's around.

Saturday/Sunday only. BBQ, good music, food and margaritas.

My favourite tourist spot in Singapore. Having been open for over a decade, the park is half family tomb, half shop of horrors. The infamous Ten Courts of Hell features small-scale tableaux that show human sinners being punished in gory and graphic detail.

If you're a music lover this is your spot. It's by appointment only so ring ahead. You'll find old Cantonese disco tracks you never knew you couldn't live without.

Go here and stay for a while. The bartender will be playing music you've never heard before whilst you get nicely warm with high quality saka.

The best club in Singapore bringing the best music and entertainment. Benji B, Yasmin, Talib Kweli, Nubya Garcia, Chromeo, Breakbot have all played there. Make sure you look online to see whats going on. Buy tickets in advance, the queues are a bitch.

This is a collection of shops, restaurants and galleries all in one space in Johannesburg. My favourite spot to go to when I am there is called "Peachy" they have incredible "Asianesque Wings" that you need to try out. They also have live music which is always great, especially when it is Jazz!

This is one of the best places I have been to in Johannesburg. The food is incredible, the music is so nice and the overall aesthetic of the place is amazing, in fact, I shot some scenes for my music video "Sunday" in the venue. When you go there you need to ask for Katlego Mlambo, he is the head chef - award winning type of guy.

This is a really cool place to go chill on a Saturday afternoon, it is a food and drink market that happens in the city, great views, good music and tasty food is always a good combination.

My favorite part about these gardens is the river with the fish, I like feeding the fish, it is so peaceful and green. Oh, they also have ducks and ducks are really cute. Sometimes, you just need to sit under a tree and breathe in fresh air with your shoes off, this is the perfect place for this.

This is an old school cinema based in Braamfontein, which is near Johannesburg city centre. They showcase indie films there, both local and international. It's really great to spend an evening watching indie films and eating popcorn, I feel so vintage when I do that.

This place is really cool, it is a lifestyle centre made up of over 100 empty shipping containers filled with different fashion and retail stores, there are also some really cool coffee shops with great doughnuts, they sometimes have live music too, if you watching live music you need a glass of wine. South Africa has the best wine.

This rooftop is on the 15th Floor of a designer hotel in the middle of Johannesburg City Centre, the views of the city are incredible and the sunsets are even better. If you ever find yourself in this beautiful venue you have to try the Oysters, they are unbelievable.

If you are an LGBTQIAP+ person you have an obligation to live in the zig. a gay nightclub in the basement with pop music, darkroom and gay cruising.

Imagine a funk party in Brazil? now imagine an LGBTQIA+ funk party in brazil, where the G, the T and the L dominate everything. That's it, just living to see.


If you are looking for a more cozy place, where you can spend the afternoon with friends and still listen to some music, then lote sp is the place.

As a fan and lover of Hip-Hop culture, I find everything here, ribbed tank tops, jewellery, sneakers, t-shirt prints - the rock gallery is a good option for those who want to spend their evening lookinging and don't have time to adventure so much, as there are several floors with wonderful curatorship. 

I cut my hair for 15 years in the same place with your rodriguez. If you're looking for a ruler cut, this is the place.

My favorite food in São Paulo is here: a dish made of pot roast and carrot cake dessert is what I eat the most.

The Creative Underbelly of Sao Paulo with Kevin David

Hong Kong

Haw Par Mansion is an abandoned mansion that's got loads of trippy sculptures. I mean, can you imagine becoming so rich that one day you say to yourself, "What if I build a garden here?' and then the garden looks like that? Sometimes I wonder if whoever came up with those sculptures were on any psychedelics whilst making them.

Fuji Building is a place where horny foreigners, expats, escorts and landlords collide. It’s a nice place for those people to hang out, especially since there’s some similar buildings like it around that area. It’s got a trippy interior design to it as well. If anybody's looking for a place to go, this should be one of them.

There's a forbidden village that looks like a forest called Sha Lo Tung. It's in a really remote area in Tai Po. Lots of nature. There's grassland, wetland, abandoned farmland inside. Watch out for the dragonflies and the butterflies though. A land developer had wanted to build a columbaria on the land after buying the ownership from villagers, and there was a lot of controversy around the whole thing.

Foo Tak Building has given us lots of memories. HKCR used to be there, and Twenty Alpha is still in there. We did some performances in those venues before, but there’s also a rooftop that most people can go to most of the time. The rooftop is great for performing and smoking, especially when the weather isn’t so hot. Lots of our friends have been on the rooftop before, whether it’s for watching a show or just chilling there. Just know that the building closes its gates at 8pm.

Champagne Court is a legendary spot in Hong Kong. It has been used on a few TV series, but the thing is it used to provide legal prostitution in the 90s and it got a lot of clout because of that.

Fung Tak Park is another place with some trippy stuff going on. Most of the park’s design is based on the Chinese myth 'Journey to the West,' and they have a whole waterfall inside the park. One of my friends shot their music video there.

There’s some good spots in Ho King Commercial Building. It’s perfect because there’s street food all around that area, obscure shops, cheap electronics and all that. It was known for selling porno DVDs, especially in the 90s. There’s more quiet smoking spots if you take a lift up and go to the stairs. Quite safe, at least for now. Don’t do drugs, there’s lots of cops in that area.

This is the exact spot where we first made ‘Harbor’ on our ‘Synthetic’ EP. It was a really random day. Takeem hit me up and [asked] if we wanna meet. For some reason I just brought my laptop with me, because I'd been making lots of songs at that time in places outside my home studio. I didn’t know we were going to meet up somewhere outdoors on that day, but I still took my laptop out, made a beat, Takeem quickly freestyled and wrote some lyrics. That’s how we first started ‘Harbor’ – in front of the harbor. There had been times where I needed to go out and make some music instead of being stuck at home, and that’s the spot I’d go [to]. One of the most iconic venues in the country. The sound is amazing and the atmosphere is one of a kind.

The Rockies stadium is a landmark is the city. The teams are always up and down success wise, but it’s always a good time.


Still one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. I don't think I realised how good we had it growing up.

This zoo is a decent drive outside of Denver, but the fact that it's nestled right in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains creates a really dope experience. 

My favourite fast food burger. The Big Daddy bacon burger defined my teenage years, it's great for a late night drunken meal.

This is the mall all the ballers go to in the city, it's got all the high-end brands.
