This unpretentious, retro space in Putney, London, is our spot highlight for the week.

Each week, we're highlighting a restaurant or cafe in London as part of our Munch of the Week series. Every chosen spot has been recommended to us by a creative within London's community, and you can receive our Munch of the Week tips by signing up to our Whatsapp broadcast here. Via Whatsapp, we're sending our followers a roundup of events to go to in the UK capital every Wednesday, alongside our selected Munch of the Week. The events range from supper clubs to underground events, via new exhibitions and talks. It's there that you'll also be able to receive discounts on event tickets, sign up for giveaways and more.

Upon the mention of River Cafe in London, you may think of the famous Michelin-starred Italian restaurant located in Hammersmith. For this week's Munch of the Week, we're spotlighting a more low-key affair located in Putney.

Recommended to us by Richie Hayes and Elliott Kaye – the two founders of Norman's – this traditional cafe is situated opposite Putney Bridge underground station. Its vintage decor matches it nostalgic exterior, and its unpretentious atmosphere comes paired with a menu that emphasises good value for its customers.

In Hayes' and Kaye's guide to London's best cafes, they highlighted: "It serves all your classics done right and serves generous portions too.” Think ham and eggs, or traditional English breakfasts. You can find more information on River Cafe here.

In this week's Whatsapp broadcast, we've also recommended the next instalment of Shanghai Supper Club. If you're in London, make sure you check out Soudade Kaadan's second feature film, Nezouh, presented by Girls in Film; and catch a rare live set by Gavsborg – of the peerless Jamaican dancehall collective Equiknoxx – at Loki Brixton this Sunday (5 May).
