Sri Lanka’s Experimental Art and Music Movement Lands in London
A different side to Sri Lanka is coming to London.
Sri Lankan-born Londoner Seth de Silva brings his visceral DJ set to London's experimental music haven, Cafe OTO. He is joined by Suren Seneviatne, a Sri Lankan sound artist based in the UK who creates archival sounds with obsolete software from the Y2K era, and Toulip Wonder, a Sri Lankan artist whose music is shaped by DIY ethos that draws from video games to ambient jazz.
Each artist explores and deconstructs pixel art, and look to bygone electronic sounds from old computers, defunct software, and vintage games to inspire and create new sonic experiences.
The three acts will host an evening of boundary-pushing audiovisual performances tied to the concept of reclaiming sounds for marginalised communities.
