Trippin With: Episode Five with Alba Akvama
In recent years, Copenhagen has emerged as a sort of mythical hub of left-leaning indie pop fronted by Erika de Casier and fellow alumni of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory. Alba Akvama is among the cohort, but she warns against putting all the acts into a single box.
Alba Akvama's dreamy sounds and ethereal vocals feel as if they emerge from a foggy morning gazing across the Nordvest area - but she says there is no singular CPH sound, "maybe some of the references are the same, but what people are doing with the references are quite different".
She's a huge fan of her city, where she will play her first headline show later this year, rating it over metropolises of London and New York for both vibe and style. Check out fifth episode below.
Catch Alba at Syd for Solen in August and Alter Festival in September. On October 17 she headlines the DR Koncerthuset.
