When we asked Princess Julia to step into the booth, she assumed it was to talk about Pet Shop Boys — she'd come fresh from DJing for them at Camden's Electric Ballroom. No, Julia, we want to talk about you!

Princess Julia is a regal nightlife icon, fashion inspiration and queer figurehead inextricably linked to London, whose presence makes our city just that bit better. Julia has been a household name on the London queer scene for decades, and was a core part of the storied Blitz Kids club scene in the 1980s with the likes of Leigh Bowery and Boy George. She's a model, writer, and DJ who can often be found at the Divine in Dalston, a place she calls her second home.

She steps into the booth to teach us how to strike a pose, and reveals where she gets designer bargains and why she think photography in clubs should be brought back.
