Akia Dorsainvil, known as DJ Pressure Point, is carving out a unique space in Miami's dance scene.

As a transdisciplinary artist and programmer, he amplifies the voices of Black queer communities through his work. His creative output is a love letter to the brilliance of these communities, with a particular focus on the Caribbean. Growing up immersed in the rhythms of minimal and house, Pressure Point skillfully ties together these genres in both his production work and DJ sets.

Co-founding Masisi, a collective dedicated to celebrating Black queer expression, Dorsainvil curates events rooted in diaspora and heritage. His Haitian and African-American heritage fuels this mission, driving him to explore the intersection of identity, lineage and resistance.

The dancefloor is often a common meeting point for communities, and it's also a space where connections and romances can flourish from. The latter is what we're focusing on today. From Afro-Caribbean nights with the vinyl crew, Rum and Coke, to ladies' night hosted by Carozilla. Dante’s HiFi bar is constantly creating space where both you and your lover would for sure be able to connect and create a playlist based on the music being played that night, to carry the good times all throughout the night.

A personal favourite! Very romantic due to its location placement on the Espanola Way. Minutes away from the beach, and desserts that would secure a follow-up date with its array of sizeably portioned meals. Be sure to ask for the chocolate souffle.

This an enjoyable date spot because it instantly transports you out of Miami, and into your new favourite sushi spot. If you can reserve a slot and beat the waiting list, you'll be sure to not only be captivated by each dish floating its way via mini gandela but also be enthralled in conversation in a true Miami gem.

It's hip, it's young and it's a cool take on a Vietnamese cuisine dinner that sits in the centre of downtown but is not overly populated with tourists looking to get a quick fix. It built an impressive name with Miami's local dining scene producing quality dishes that won't break you or the guy you just matched with on Hinge.
