by:Larm Returns to Oslo for Its 28th Edition
This year is the 28th anniversary of music festival and conference by:Larm, running from 11-13 September.
by:Larm has been hosted in Norway since 1998 and the citywide event is considered to be one of the premier dates in the Scandinavian music industry's calendar. Including both an evening music festival and a daytime conference over the three days, it is essentially split into two parts. Together, they showcase both the innovative artists driving local and global scenes forward, as well as the influential figures who keep the industry ticking.
The conference consists of a series of lectures, seminars and debates. This year, the conference programme features a talk from music journalist Liz Pelly on the politics of Spotify, fair music listening platform Nina Protocol will be in conversation with journalist Shawn Reynaldo, and NTS founder Femi Adeyemi will discuss how NTS Radio became a global movement.
The music festival's main focus is to ‘present artists that are on the verge of success, either in their homelands or internationally’. Príncipe Discos affiliate DJ Narcisio will play alongside London-based selector Mi-El, dub techno trio Purelink and Copenhagen duo Snuggle, among many other exciting artists.
Head of Booking at by:Larm, Henrik Posner, recommends catching ‘Uncanny-coolness-defining-experimental-girl-pop-duo’ New York, Norwegian folk band Wold Wiggen and Belgium artist Camille Keller.
Due to its location in the centre of Norway's capital, the festival is easily accessible for international visitors. Weather-wise, during the daytime you can expect showers and highs of around 14°C, with evening temperatures dropping to 11°C.
