Despite being its smalli(sh) size, The Netherlands' impact on dance music has hit with heavyweight force. A multitude of electronic genres were born in the Dutch streets - from the head-stomping effects of hardstyle to the shivering build-ups of trance.

Taking place in Amsterdam, Dekmantel is an emblematic ode to electronic music - encapsulating the fearless Dutch spirit for exploration and experimentation. This is a festival free of judgement, curating diverse line -ps that attract house heavyweights like Honey Dijon, to PC Music pro Sega Bodega or homegrown talent like Carlos Valdes, owner of Amsterdam's iconic queer venue, Pamela.

One of this year's highlights sees Bubbling icon De Schuurman play a b2b with longtime friend and collaborator Shaun D, fresh dropping music on Nyege Nyege Tapes. Bubbling - another Dutch-born genre - emerged in port city Rotterdam in the last 1980s, when Suriname-born dancehall DJ speed up a dancehall record. Younger generations like Shaun D and De Schuurman continued to evolve the genre in the early 2000s, adding aggressive synths and drastic drops, laying the foundations of Dutch House explosion a decade afterwards.
