 he shares with us his favourite places in the city. He also suggests to

Having hosted the first pride parade on the continent Cape Town is widely regarded as the gay capital of Africa. The city often feels like an endless joyride with numerous tracks sprawled across South Africa’s western cape each leading to its own enclave of wonder. Wandering round and round the ticket booth is a valid reaction to a city that leaves you this spoilt for choice. 

The mesmerising multicoloured district of Bo-Kaap is a wonderful place to start, its bright blues and greens reminiscent of Joseph's technicolour dream coat. The bustling waves and white sand of Llandudno beach are a surfer's dream. All this is set against the backdrop of the notorious Table mountain and its cloud cloth, a beautiful testament to the idiosyncratic ways in which nature chooses to display its beauty.

Cape Town is a majority black, multicultural space, brimming with culture. The compact city centre, hemmed in by the harbour and the curve of Table Mountain and pristine beaches, is almost entirely walkable.

Local electronic duo Stiff Pap, share their favourite spots across the city. The pair are stepping out with their own unique sound as they fuse kwaito, gqom and hip hop. Stiff Pap are at the forefront of African electronic music innovation, mixing a progressive global electronic sound with localised African lyrics and rhythms. Making a name for themselves locally, they have opened for international artists such as Slowthai and Vince Staples as well as headlining Boiler Room Johannesburg in 2019. Leading the way in an alternative music scene, they have managed to stay independent whilst staying true to their message of uncompromising self-expression.

From nightlife to places to hike, explore the mother city through their eyes.

If you want a night out in the township, this should be your first stop. Rands is one of the best live music venues in the city and a great place to experience a night out over some drinks and some of SA’s biggest musicians.

If you’re interested in hiking this is an entry level trail. There’s a beautiful view of the ocean and the city when you reach the peak. It’s really pretty around sundown.

This is a great spot for people who want to experience some of Cape Town’s alternative/underground music events. The best event to attend there is called Prime, so keep an eye on their socials.

This is probably the most popular bar in town. They have great music from an eclectic line up of local (and some international) djs. Start off at the one in Kloof Street around 6/7pm for sundowners and make your way down the road to the one on loop street around 10pm for the rest of the night. If you just want a chilled night out, stick to Kloof Street.

If you’re into markets/food festivals this is your spot on Saturday mornings. There are local bands, food stalls and tons of independent retailers selling (often local) goods.

Observatory is often referred to as the bohemian centre of Cape Town, because of all the students and backpackers it attracts. With the many bars on Lower Main Road, its definitely a must see for people looking to meet new people and interact with the creative community.

If you’re a fan of nature, you might want to make a stop here with the whole family. This is easily one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the country. Depending on the season they also host live concerts on the grass.

Cape Town can most simply be described as a melting pot of different cultures, cuisines and landscapes. Some say there's nothing quite like it and one of those people is native, Rose Bonica. As a DJ at the forefront of the city's electronic scene, it's safe to say that she knows what's happening and where. Here, she shares her favourite spots across her city.

Definitely one of my most nostalgic spots, having gone to Llandudno Primary. The sunsets from here are insane! If I’m honest, it's also one of the only beaches I'd go to if I liked to go to the beach.

If you want the best fish and chips in Cape Town. If you disagree, you can always feed the fish to the seagulls.

One of the few clubs that we have in Cape Town. Champagne and NTSC are my favourite nights. Some of their other nights are great too, if you're looking for a bit more of a Berlin techno vibe.

I recently went to the Aquarium to film a live stream and it's definitely my new favourite spot in Cape Town. The best part is that most of the sea life are rescues getting rehabilitated to get put back into the ocean.

The perfect little village to escape to when the city becomes too much. The beach is beyond and there's a beautiful Lake at the end of the beach to float around in when the waves get too much.
