This cute little pizza place just opened during lockdown and has been selling out almost every day since then. Since the young couple makes the dough fresh every day and it hast o sit for 54 hrs – so when its gone, its gone! Every pizza is vegan and so delicious that it makes this place deserve their name 100%. Personal favorite: Alla Nonna.

A completely vegan vietnamese restaurant that gives you so much interior Inspiration and the most amazing food. You should definetely try the summer rolls – the peanut sauce is to die for. 

Bavarian food usually means meat and fat. This place made it their mission to create vegan alternatives of the most traditional dishes and sucess at it, to say the least. Whataver you do/eat save some room for the Kaiserschmarrn! 

Bodhi

This cute, pink café just recently opened and is the only place to serve a vegan cheese platter in Munich. They also make the prettiest and tastiest cakes. Super Plus: the cafe dog Frida!

Om Nom Nom

This place serves truffled fries as their regular fries. Don’t really need to say more. They also have amazing bowls and big glasses of wine for 5 Euro. Should definitely make a reservation before since its always crowded. Plays nice old school tunes the later the night gets.

Katopazzo

Arepa, Tostones and Empanadas – the best of the venzualan kitchen is made here. They’re vegan friendly and take on any extra wishes. They also host wild parties on the weekends!

Even though our beloved Mr Kohinoor is not around anymore, Britannia & Co. is still everyone's favourite place for a spot of lunch, and – in my opinion – one of the loveliest surviving Irani cafes. What to order? Well, it must include a fragrant chicken berry pulao, and the excellent Parsi speciality salli boti (lamb curry topped with salli crisp chips). Finish with a refreshing lime soda; "nice and sweet, to beat the heat", as Mr Kohinoor liked to say.

This is most certainly our favourite place for breakfast in Bombay. If you're early, it will be calm and quiet and you can enjoy a sweet chai in peace, followed by a breakfast of their delicious akuri – a simple dish, not unlike scrambled eggs.

Next, onwards to Yazdani for a mid-morning snack. Despite the heat, you must order a piping hot cup of chai, and brun maska to dunk into it. (You could also order the softer bun, but at Yazdani, its crusty counterpart brun is the true champion).

My cousin (and Dishoom co-founder) Shamil actually celebrated his first birthday here! This little cafe is on a corner of King's Circle on the way to South Bombay. The "honey half-fry" is a must-try: eggs only slightly fried on top of bread, and drizzled with honey.

This is such a great place for people watching, as it's a bustling hub for commuters. It dates back to 1914 and is still open. Swing by for a delicious omelette, or bun maska with jam.

Underground Barz is a place that speaks to me poetically. It’s one of London’s spoken word poetry nights and in my experience, it is the best. It’s a culmination of concert level performances and living room intimacy. When it comes to the line-up of performances, you witness some of the most exciting emerging musicians and poets – you don’t just hear it, you feel it! Everyone leaves with something. What makes this place special is that the foundation of the event is Black love. Underground Barz began in a home and it still has the essence of where it started.

The place is extra special because at the one-year anniversary celebration of the event, I got proposed to.

To the person who wants to travel without leaving the city, take on Tate Modern! My most memorable exhibit was seeing Zanele Muholi’s artwork who rewrites Black queer and trans visual history of South Africa. My favourite part about the gallery is that because it’s so huge, there are so many places where you can find solitude and connect with yourself. There’s a drawing room for those who want to create, and every summer they have a giant participatory artwork in the Turbine Hall which allows you to be a part of something collaborative. My favourite place is on the second floor in the Blavatnik Building, where there are seats carved into the window and you get to see a view outside of the Tate. Right now you can also see Yoko Ono’s incredible Wish Trees there too.

Most of the gallery is free with temporary exhibitions only costing five pounds if you’re part of Tate Collective. Sign-up is free for 16-25 year olds and you get discounts in the shops and cafes too.

A suburb retreat without leaving the city. It is my quiet place. It carries so many memories because as a kid I used to bike ride every Saturday with my cousins and Uncle Gregg. We all learned how to ride a bike there. Now this place is a huge part of my cycle. It’s where I take advantage of solitude and write my poems. It’s less packed than other national parks and filled with nature uninterrupted, and the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Perfect for a girls paint and picnic, and somewhere to bring your girl dinner!

Founded by Floacist from the duo Floetry – an incredible poet, songwriter and mentor for me. Flo Vortex is the roots of the poetry world in London, it’s one of the longest running events with its recent 10-year anniversary. This has been the starting point for so many poets. I go here for inspiration and to perform at their monthly events every last Wednesday. Its collective is called Flo Poets and I’m one of them. For me, this means I’ve carved my identity in the spoken word poetry scene. Like other Flo Poets, I have my own signature style of poetry. It’s a place where I love to test out my new poetry.

You’ll get stunning views sitting on the terrace and just when you think it couldn’t get any better - they are dog friendly as fuck!!

Beautifully leopard crust, crispy, light, chewy with really cool toppings he imports from Italy and usually with a few specials that celebrate local produce on too. He has a pop-up truck that serves around Caernarfon and a restaurant soon to open in Bangor

This is is very very very good. Smallish intimate restaurant in the beautiful Castle walls of Conwy. I highly recommend the taster menu with wine pairings. Chef Nick Rudge worked with Heston Blumenthal for years before returning home and opening his own place last year. Making a big impact with Snowdonia flavours.

When you’re done with North Wales, it is worth the drive down the coast to Gareth Ward at Ynyshir in Machynlleth & my G Nathan Davies of SY23 in Aberystwyth - they will blow your fucking minds.  They have 3 Michelin Stars between them. Flavour wizards.

Nathan of SY23 is a pyromaniac like myself. He cooks everything over fire. His wood is all local, and he treats the wood not just as fuel, but as an ingredient. He showcases Welsh produce and people like him are putting Welsh food identity on the map.

As someone who is half-Lebanese, finding authentic Middle Eastern food that feels like home is special to me and Tiba's Restaurant delivers. Their mini cheese pides are perfection that hits the spot every time. The casual, welcoming vibe makes it even better!

Old Palm Liquor is a fantastic spot for a low-lit, relaxing meal. Although it specialises in steaks, I highly recommend the kingfish. Their cocktails and drinks menu is also extremely good. The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. Overall, it’s a great spot for a hearty experience or a casual night out with friends.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican in Melbourne, La Tortilleria is hard to beat. Their tortillas are made fresh daily, and it shows in every bite—the quality is consistently excellent. The menu is simple but well-executed, with standout dishes including the Al Pastor and Carne Asada tacos. Laid-back and seriously delicious.

CD Base is a music spot in Holdrons Arcade, opposite Balamii. Get fresh mixtapes, afrobeat, dancehall, rap, R&B etc, catch a game of dominos (not sure what the buy in is). Maestro is a record shop with an extensive CD library too.

Highbridge is a neighbourhood in the Bronx that's connected to Washington Heights in the Upper Manhattan by way of the pedestrian high bridge. The blending of cultures across this physical landscape is rich and the patties have a nice sweetness and a spicy punch. They also take some time, because you'll need to ferment the plantains for the filling for up to one week, which adds a tangy depth to the flavour.

For $4 or $5, any short-order bodega cook can style it how you like it, but the classic build is ground beef cooked down with white onions and American cheese, then topped with tomatoes and shredded lettuce on a hero or roll. Like a lot of foods that emerge from neighbourhoods and cultures where many are systematically deprived of wealth, the chopped cheese is a blue-collar dish, [with] it's social complexities. As the class makeup of the Bronx and Uptown has shifted to attract the richer, whiter populations in recent years, the chopped cheese found its way into the hands of folks who didn't grow up on it like we did but rather often "discovered" the sandwich, and, naturally, loved it.

This place opened as Brother Roy's Green Garden in 1983 at a different location (it's always going to be Brother Roy's to us), but the juice bar is a beloved, Black-owned gathering place that promotes health and wellness. For youth used to seeing smoke shops and liquor stores on countless corners, this West Indian spot is where you find like-minded people knowledgeable about nutrition. Brother Roy's is across from an elevated train, facing the New York Housing Authority's Gun Hill Houses. The energy is chaotic on the streets. In the shop it's like an oasis. You smell fresh fruit. You hear patois that reflects Caribbean roots. 

Green Garden Health Food 

The hood Chinese restaurant is ubiquitous in Black hip hop culture. For decades, references to dishes have appeared in song lyrics; there's even a brown and green Timberland boot that's been dubbed "beef and broccoli". The tan joints are called "sesame chickens". These are not the spots where you look for traditional Cantonese dumplings or classic Sichuan noodles. You're gonna find chicken wings next to egg foo Yung. Chinese sweet tea served in plastic quart containers. Everything comes in a to-go box because even if the spot is large enough for tables and chairs, you're probably not staying long.
